I read some comparos on the new GTR1400 and the FJR 1300, but since I haven't the opportunity to test-ride the GTR1400, I would very much like to have some input from any of you that eventually owned a FJR before, and can tell me the real pros and cons between those two bikes. Kawa 1400 .16 .30 Busa .22 .4 FJR 1300 .16 .23 As you can see the clear winner is the Busa (of course!). The Kawa is in second place, with the BMW and the Sprint pretty close behind the Kawa, sharing the third. The FJR is in 4th. In summary, other than the (Busa -- what a beast! Nevertheless, the Yam does look like a makeover is due, especially considering comparative prices (FJR £15,449, GTR £13,599, K1600 from £15,495). There is no ESA as on the BMW GT’s. Suspension, while adjustable front and rear, has to be tweaked manually, and at rest. I had a 2004 ST1300 that I put 11,000 miles on. I now have a 2006 FJR with 21,000 miles. I've done an eight day 2900 mile trip to the Smokeys on the FJR, and eight day 3800 mile trip to the Rockies on the FJR. I like everything about the FJR better - including long distance comfort. The FJR does have a slight vibration, but not enough to be a Just traded a BMW for the FJR, my BMW (K1200LT) was WAY more top-heavy than the FJR. Wings are heavier, but seem to carry it lower, same for Harleys. I think more riders move from sport bikes to the FJR than from bigger tourers. In relation to a sport bike, the FJR is big and heavy. I moved from the Bimmer cause I wanted lighter and more 266. Gender:Male. Location:Ashford, Kent, UK. Interests:Yamaha, Aprilia, Tropical Fish, Opel Calibras. To me, chains are a plus, as I can adjust the final drive ratio to suit my needs.. Stock setup of 15/41 can be changed to 16/42 or 16/39 for more highway cruising. love my 2006 FJR, that being said have added corbin seat - the stock seat was a torture device after about 30 miles for me, windscreen, motorcycle larrys triple tree with with risers, and audiovox electronic cruise control - helps with handle bar vibes ( i'm particular sensitive to vibes, old injuries). zTgd.
